Behaviorial Business Ethics: Business and the Common Good

    Laszlo Zsolnai was lecturing on Behaviorial Business Ethics at the Constance Academy of Business Ethics in October 7-8, 2010 in Konstanz, Germany. In his lecture he argued that if economic agents become self-concerned then it is likely that – by employing moral disengagement mechanisms – their self-exonerative maneuvers will do harm to others.     Business as a Profession: Serving the Common Good

      Invited by the Global Responsible Leadership Ambassadors Laszlo Zsolnai gave a lecture on “Business as a Profession: Serving the Common Good” at the Anglia Ruskin University Aschroft International  Business School on November 25, 2009 in Cambrdige, UK. In his lecture Zsolnai argued that unless future business managers demonstrate that they serve the common good in their daily practice, the legitimacy and moral standing of the business profession remain questionable.       The Fate of Future Generations in Europe

        On November 6, 2009 Laszlo Zsolnai presented the main findings of the Future Generations research project of the Business Ethics Center of Corvinus University of Budapest in a conference organized by the Ombudsman for Future Generations Office of the Hungarian Parlament. He demonstrated that every country in Europe presents some burden on future generations in one or more domains of ecological, financial, human and intellectual capitals.         Accounting for Future Generations

          In  April 17-18, 2009 Laszlo Zsolnai presented a paper on Accounting for Future Generations in the 5th European SPES Conference at the University of Catania, Sicily. His presentations focused on three problems. (1) Who are future generations? (2) What is our obligations to future generations? (3) How can we account our activities for future generations?           Frugality

            Laszlo Zsolnai and Knut J. Ims were keynote speakers in the Sustainable Consumption Conference on October 8, 2008, at the Corvinus University of Budapest. They presented the ecological, ethical and economic case for frugality, and argued that downsizing the present scale of the economy is necessary for achieving ecological sustainability.             Just War – Just Business

              The Fifth TransAtlantic Business Ethics Conference entitled “Business Ethics and Corporate Sustainability” was held at the SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan from October 3-4, 2008, in Milan.               The Collaborative Enterprise

                Antonio Tencati and Laszlo Zsolnai presented their paper “The Collaborative Enterprise” at the international workshop entitled “The Collaborative Enterprise: Creating Values for a Sustainable World” at Bocconi University Milan in 5-6, 2008. The workshop aimed at exploring alternative ways of organizing and doing business to the currently prevailing competitive model.                   From September 20-22, 2007, Laszlo Zsolnai participated in both the Annual Conference of European Business Ethics Network (EBEN) and the Annual Conference of the European SPES Forum in Leuven, Belgium. In the EBEN conference he presented a paper on “Buddhist Economics for Business” while in the European SPES conference he presented the book Frugality: Rebalancing Spiritual and Material Values in Economic Life (edited by Luk Bouckaert, Hendrick Opdebeeck and Laszlo Zsolnai, 2008, Peter Lang, Oxford).

                  Transatlantic Business Ethics Conference at The Wharton School

                    The Fourth  Transatlantic Business Ethics Conference  was organized by Thomas Dunfee and Thomas Donaldson at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia and held from October 5-7, 2006. A joint paper by Antonio Tencati and Laszlo Zsolnai on “The Collaborative Enterprise” was presented during the conference.
